Bitt Chapel house, or just “Bitt”, is a tastefully converted Wesleyan chapel, set in an enclosed garden of a quarter of an acre, amongst farmland, just eight miles as the crow flies from Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
Lying in the quiet southwest corner of the Lake District National Park and less than two miles from your first sighting of Britain’s Favourite View, Bitt provides easy access to the West Cumbrian Coast, the high Lakeland fells and a variety of other well known, and some lesser known, Lakeland treats.
Despite its secluded location, Bitt is less than ten minutes drive from, and central to, the four villages of Nether Wasdale, Gosforth, Eskdale Green and Holmrook, which between them offer a village supermarket, a garage shop, a village store, several pubs and much, much more.
Slightly further afield there are Roman remains at both Ravenglass and at Hardknott, golfing at Seascale and valley walks at Blengdale and Eskdale.
